Merry Christmas!

Home from work and about to go to sleep - just 25 minutes until Christmas!  I was on Twitter a little bit ago and discovered this YouTube video.  Definitely made my night.  Such a simple rendition of the Christmas story.  Amazing how powerfully God can speak through the mouths of children.  Merry Christmas!

Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Well, I made it back from South Dakota in one piece!  That statement probably doesn't make much sense to those of you who have yet to hear my story, which I will be sharing sometime in the next few weeks.  Just know that it will bring you laughs at my expense....be excited!

The wedding was lovely.  Mariah, of course, was a beautiful bride and I was honored to hand the programs out at the door.  Tirzah manned the guest book (or guest calendar) - we had fun hanging out and looking cute together!  Every time I handed a program to a guest I was tempted to say, "Enjoy the show!"  I respectfully refrained, giggling to myself every time I had the urge to spout the phrase.  However, I thoroughly enjoyed the "show," as did everyone in attendance.  It was truly a winter wonderland, though only on the inside of the church since South Dakota decided to be warmer than Oklahoma that day.  I am so happy for Mariah and Eric and excited that they'll only be living 45 minutes away starting in January!

I can hardly believe that Christmas is two days away!  This year has definitely flown by!  Between working, being sick, and traveling to South Dakota, I haven't taken much time for Christmasey things this month.

Tonight Josiah, Jeff and I went to Rhema to look at the Christmas lights.  It was so cold!  I couldn't believe it was colder here than it was in Mitchell last weekend. Who would've thought?!  After about 30 minutes of walking around, we could no longer feel our lips and were slurring our words.  Starbucks was much needed after that excursion!

I just love holiday coffee beverages: Caramel Creme Brulee Latte for me, Peppermint Mocha for Josiah, and Eggnog Latte for Jeff.  Yum!

I watched A Christmas Story with my family after the Rhema excursion.  Definitely one of my favorite Christmas traditions! No matter how many times we watch that movie, it's still hilarious!  I work tomorrow 1p-1a, but I have Christmas Day off!  So glad this weekend is feeling more like Christmas than the past few weeks.  Happy Christmas Eve Eve!

Psalm 121

     I awoke this morning to a gray sky, which quite reflects my mood.  I'm home sick again today, snuggled under my fleece bear blanket with a small electric heater and box of Kleenex nearby.  Maybe in the midst of the sniffles the Lord is trying to tell me to slow down and take better care of my body.  I am thankful for this time of rest, though I am definitely ready to feel better.
    As I was spending time with Dad this morning, He gave me Psalm 121.  How incredible it is that the Maker of heaven and earth watches over us without ceasing!  May these words be as encouraging to your heart as they were to mine.

 1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains—
   where does my help come from?
2 My help comes from the LORD,
   the Maker of heaven and earth.

 3 He will not let your foot slip—
   he who watches over you will not slumber;
4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
   will neither slumber nor sleep.

 5 The LORD watches over you—
   the LORD is your shade at your right hand;
6 the sun will not harm you by day,
   nor the moon by night.

 7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
   he will watch over your life;
8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
   both now and forevermore

December Post

First blog post in December.  Never mind that it is the eleventh day of the month.  Life has been a little busy lately....working a few extra days, watching endless hours of TV on DVD on my days off.  Okay, so I'm really not that busy, just worn out.  Which could be why I've been sitting at home with a cold this weekend.  I started coming down with it Wednesday, and after working Thursday and Friday the only thing I could fathom doing was lie in bed.  So I did.  All weekend.  I realized that I haven't left the house since I got home from work at 1:15 Saturday morning.  The farthest I've been from the house is the garage.  Which is attached to the house.  Oh well; I feel better :)

This week I'm working my usual three days, and then I leave for my ninth wedding of the year on Friday.  My dear friend Mariah is marrying her soul mate on Saturday in the frigid state of South Dakota.  I have to say that I am slightly embarrassed at the excitement I feel for the coming weekend.  It isn't a secret to anyone that I love airplane travel, which is a piece of my overwhelming excitement. I've been thinking through the layers of clothing I plan on wearing while up north, which has honestly been a thrill.  I love cold climates and am always disappointed by the lack of snow and real winter weather in my home state.  So, I get to spend next weekend sitting on airplanes, watching my friend marry the love of her life, and wearing layers and layers of clothing.  Oh, happy day!
